Syro Malabar Kurbana was introduced in our parish in the year 2002 and back then the Catechism classes for our children were conducted alongside the Latin rites in our home parish (SFS Church). The basic idea of beginning the Catechism classes for our children was to prepare them well for their first Holy Communion.
In the year 2007, Catechism classes were completely shifted to Syro-Malabar rites and children began taking classes regularly every Sunday’s after the Holy Mass. The Catechism classes were restructured class-wise with 40 students in the year 2009-2010 .
During the year 2012-2013 our Catechism classes came under Mandya Diocese then known as Syro-Malabar Bangalore Mission. During this period the children from our Catechism classes took part in all the activities conducted in the Diocese and showcased their mantle, which made our parish well known among other parishes and the people of our diocese. In the following years our parish also became a part of the Mission League of our dioceses and actively took part in the mission League activities.
We remember in our prayers all the priests, sisters and all other members who worked hard and made their immense contribution towards bringing the Catechism classes of our parish to an “A category” level in the diocese of Mandya today, which includes MSFS brothers, La Salette brothers, DSFS sisters, SD sisters, Holy Spirit Sisters and all other Catechism Teachers. Our biggest Achievement in this period is is that two of our children, Bro. Asher Mathew and Sr. Jincy George have chosen the path of God to become the faithful missionaries of God.
