The Catholic Church venerates Saint Vincent de Paul as an intercessor of charity. Born in Paris on April 24, 1581, Vincent de Paul was ordained to the priesthood on September 25, 1600. Through his charitable works, he embraced the poor and the needy. Vincent de Paul passed eternity on September 27, 1660. In 1712, when his tomb was opened in the presence of Cardinal Noailles, his body was found not decayed, and the linen garments remained intact. On August 13, 1729, Pope Benedict XIII declared Vincent de Paul blessed, and on June 13, 1737, Pope Clement XII proclaimed him a saint. In 1883, Pope Leo XIII recognized Vincent de Paul as an intercessor for charitable work. The message from the life of Saint Vincent is that true Christian love is manifested not in words, but through actions.
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP), was established in 1833 in Paris, France. The 20-year-old law student Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, along with his friends, founded SSVP. The mission of the Society is to demonstrate Christian love through actions, particularly by serving the poor and neglected in a humble, personal, and respectful manner. Today, the Vincent de Paul Society has spread worldwide. Present in over 150 countries, this organization has more than 800,000 active members and over 1.5 million volunteers. In India, it is one of the largest charitable organizations within the Catholic Church.
In our parish, the Vincent de Paul Society stands as an active witness of compassion and God’s love. What the life of Saint Vincent teaches us, and what SSVP reminds us, is the same: true love for God is demonstrated through love for the poor. In our parish, the conference has been working in solidarity with the parish community for years.
The areas of service of our conference are: education support, medical support, visits to orphanages, food kit distribution, distribution of medical equipment, and so on. All financial assistance for our activities has been provided by each one of you. The conference is grateful for each of your contributions and cooperation.
We pray that God blesses you with every possible financial and other support. Every day, at the 9 PM intercessory prayer, we offer prayers for you and your intentions. We extend special thanks to our Vicar, Assistant Vicars, Trustees, Parish Council members, Sisters, and other organizations in the parish, who always energize the activities of the conference and stand with us. We continue to request your support and cooperation in our forthcoming activities. Those who wish to work with us in the conference, may kindly contact us.
The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that aspires to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society.
We invite you to join us in carrying out charitable works in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul, the patron of Christian charity. Inspired by his compassion and service to the poor, our mission is to bring hope, comfort, and practical support to those in need within our parish and beyond.
Whether it is through prayer, offering your time, sharing resources, or extending a helping hand, every contribution makes a difference. Together, we can live out the Gospel message of love and mercy by reaching out to the less fortunate.
Come, be part of this mission of kindness and service. In the Vincentian way, let us recognize Christ in the poor and make our parish a true witness of Christian charity.
